    FINCA LOS DIEGOS

Our Finca Los Diegos, at the foot of the Poas volcano, at an altitude of 1300 meters in the Central Valley near San José, Costa Rica.
Best soils and best climate on 66 hectares, including approximately 22 hectares of protected natural jungle.

22 hectares of quiet area for nature.

    A paradise for coffee plants.

The conditions at our Finca Los Diegos are optimal: 1,300 m altitude, a perfect climate, and nutrient-rich volcanic soil. The soils are densely covered, allowing the topsoil to steadily build up. The plants thrive and produce perfect coffee cherries. Slopes lined with trees and natural hedges provide protection from wind and sun. Twenty-two of the 66 hectares are a protected nature reserve for many plants, animals, and insects—a small paradise that also attracts hikers.

In this pristine reserve in one of the world's most biodiverse regions, morpho butterflies flutter, streams babble, and waterfalls rush. Attentive visitors may even spot sloths in the treetops. The cultivated areas are less different from the nature reserves than one might think—with grassy ground and trees providing shade and habitat.
There is a little bit of love in every coffee bean.

    Perfection needs
    Time and respect.

Each bean is hand-picked, carefully sorted, and processed with the highest precision. No rush, no compromise, just skilled craftsmanship. Your coffee deserves more than machine labor — it deserves passion.

Treating our employees well is important to us, as they are the key to the quality of our coffee. We have six permanent employees and up to 90 seasonal workers during the harvest season, who we want to make feel at home. Our accommodations offer above-average comfort with private kitchens and restrooms, and we pay above average for the demanding manual labor, because motivated workers are also in demand here.
Our partners Diego Sr. and Diego Jr.

    Coffee plants
    through and through.

There are colleagues, friends, and family. The Berrocals are a perfect combination of all three. The bond with them has grown over the years and extends far beyond a business relationship. Diego Sr., a graduate agronomist with many years of experience as a farmer, is dedicated to regenerative agriculture, which is recommended by the UN as sustainable.
His son, Diego Jr., a Q-grader, barista and coffee enthusiast, is responsible for Bombastico's plantation development, processing, and quality control. The Diegos impress with their expertise, humor, and dedication.
