Natural jungle included.
Welcome to Finca Los Diegos in Costa Rica. The home of Café Bombastico. Wonderful conditions for our coffee plants including around 22 hectares of protected natural area.

A coffee paradise.
Optimal climate, nutrient-rich volcanic soil and resource-saving “regenerative agriculture” allow our Arabica plants to thrive perfectly.

Reap what Diegos sow.
The constant development of the plantation, the perfect conditions and the passion of the team produce perfect coffee, as you can see very clearly here.

Coffee plants through and through.
Our partners Diego Sr. and Diego Jr.
There are colleagues, there are friends, there is family. These two dudes are a perfect combination of all three. The connection with the Berrocals has grown over many years and is more than just a trusting business relationship. Diego Sr. is a trained agronomist and has a lot of experience in agriculture. He tirelessly tests new concepts of sustainable agriculture and is committed to regenerative agriculture. This focuses on the regeneration of topsoil and biodiversity and is recommended by the United Nations as a sustainable form of agriculture.
His son Diego Jr. is a trained Q-grader and a self-confessed coffee nerd. He is heavily involved in the development of the plantation and is responsible for the processing and quality control of Café Bombastico. In keeping with the introduction to this text, the Diegos impress with their expertise, humor and commitment.

A little paradise
for large coffee plants.
“If I were to be reborn as a coffee plant, I would like it to be on the Finca Los Diegos.” This statement makes perfect sense, because the conditions are ideal. An altitude of around 1300m above sea level, perfect climatic conditions and nutrient-rich volcanic soil.
The soil is not plowed and cultivated in an antiseptic manner, but is densely covered with grass and other plants, so that the topsoil can continue to build up. The plants are therefore well cared for to produce perfect coffee cherries. What's more, the individual slopes are covered with many trees and dense natural hedges that protect against wind and too much sun.
22 of the 66 hectares of the plantation are a protected nature reserve and offer a refuge for many plants, animals and insects. If our coffee plants had eyes, they would be delighted by this sight. Just like the many hikers who have made the plantation their destination. A small paradise, in fact.

Natural jungle included.
22 hectares of quiet area for nature.
We love our coffee and love to tell people how delicious it can be made. But we love to talk about our little jungle just as much. Where else can you find something like this? A completely natural and protected reserve in one of the most species-rich regions in the world. Morpho butterflies flutter around carefree, streams babble, you can hear a waterfall rushing in the distance and if you look closely you can even spot a sloth in the treetops.
In total, these conservation areas make up around a third of the entire plantation, or 22 hectares, and will remain so. Of course, the plantation's cultivated areas differ from the conservation areas, but not as much as one might think. The ground is densely covered with grass. Trees and hedges line the coffee plants and provide shade and habitat for native animal species.

A good relationship.
This is how we treat each other.
It is not difficult to treat our employees and colleagues well if you like people and treat everyone as equals. It also makes sense to treat them well and offer them attractive working conditions because they are an important quality factor for our coffee. We have a permanent team of six permanent and long-term employees. During the harvest season we can accommodate up to 90 seasonal workers.
Our accommodations are clearly different from the standard in the region. Each accommodation has its own kitchen and bathroom, which makes everyday life before and after work much easier.
It is important to us that people feel comfortable with us, because picking by hand is very strenuous work that is much easier with motivation. We are prepared to pay more than the average for the higher quality standards, because good workers are rare and sought after in this part of the world too.
