The Arabica “Red Catuai”
A pop star with Brazilian roots.
Red Catuai is a variety originally developed in Brazil. In Costa Rica, Red Catuai has gained many fans and has become the most popular variety in the country.
Red Catuai retains its quality even in extreme weather fluctuations and impresses with its very soft and full body. You can also discover new, fine aromas in every cup.
We are always surprised by what this type of coffee can do. You should definitely try it.

The “Washed” treatment
stands for unadulterated taste.
During washing, the skin and a large portion of the pulp are removed from the coffee bean immediately after harvesting. The coffee beans are then left to rest in water for a certain period of time and then the pulp is completely removed and cleaned.
The result is a very well-rounded and clear taste profile. One of the reasons why this process is so popular and established worldwide is because there is no faster process. "Washed coffee" is accordingly popular and represents the traditional taste of high-quality coffee for the majority of the world's population.

Preparation recommendation
For a perfectly good cup of coffee, the brewing process is at least as important as the care of the coffee plants, hand-picked harvesting, processing, and roasting of the green coffee beans. The Bear is a traditional espresso and should be brewed accordingly using a sieve espresso machine or a stovetop kettle (Bialetti).
The best results can be achieved with a good sieve espresso machine. There are many manufacturers and a vast range of accessories from scales to sieves. For the right combination, we recommend trying out as much as possible. In general, the more coffee in the sieve, the more body and chocolate notes in the cup.
When using a stovetop kettle (Bialetti), it is particularly important that the sieve is always well-filled and the coffee grounds are not pressed too hard. Therefore, it makes sense to have them in the right size ready. There are stovetop kettles available in 2, 4, 6, and 8 cup sizes.

The Finca Los Diegos.
In such a beautiful place, only a delicious coffee can be created:
The Finca Los Diegos, at the foot of the Poas volcano in the Central Valley, near San José, Costa Rica. The best soil and the best climate on 66 hectares, including around 22 hectares of protected natural jungle. Run by a great team of real partners.
The lot in which this coffee is grown is called "Bajo con Kopper". The first Red Catuai was planted here in 2010 and successfully developed using modern production techniques and regenerative agriculture. We have been producing a very high quality of this popular coffee here for years.
