If you ask us what the hottest stuff is for us, then it's definitely our Thrilla Papilla filter coffees. They come from a small, perfectly aligned slope on our finca - a so-called micro lot. Small, fine, sun-drenched. The geocoordinates can be found directly above. The coffee cherries are picked by hand, carefully processed in special processes and roasted in small batches in Hamburg. Each batch is numbered and limited.

Incidentally, filter coffee can contain more aromatic nuances than wine. And as with wine, each good vintage is only available in limited quantities. So, if you want to treat your taste buds to a little adventure, try one of our micro lots while they're still available.

We grew the very first Marsellesas on the “Lote Reservorio” when hardly anyone knew about this variety. The many high-yielding plants have become indispensable and today Marsellesa is a very popular coffee in the Costa Rican coffee scene.

Arabica Marsellesa .

Marsellesa is genetically a sister variety of Obata. It grows somewhat taller and wider, which makes it very productive.

With plenty of sun exposure, its cherry can taste like a tropical fruit. As a coffee, Marsellesa typically tastes very juicy and has an elegant acidity. It thrives exceptionally well on our finca.

Filter coffee

For a cup of really good coffee, the preparation is at least as important as the production, harvesting, processing and roasting of the green coffee. All our Thrilla Papillas from 01 to 05 are pure filter coffees.

We have achieved excellent results with the Aeropress. With the Chemex or a traditional hand filter, e.g. from Hario, excellent flavors can also be extracted from the coffee beans and provide a multi-layered taste experience, just like a filter machine, e.g. from Mokkamaster, Poursteady or Bunn.

For these preparation methods, we recommend the following brew ratios (230 ml water / gram weighed in), medium-coarse grind: Aeropress: 13 to 17 - Chemex: 14 to 16 - Moccamaster: 15 to 17 - Hario V60: 16 to 19
